How Much Does It Cost To Live On A Caribbean Island? Part 1

By Angela Kafadar | January 17, 2023
How much does it cost to live on an island

It’s another winter back in Roatan, Honduras and I tend to get the same question when my clients/new friends find out I move from Canada to Honduras every winter to escape the cold (and the lifestyle of Southern Ontario). The number one question I get is “How much does it cost to live on a…

Learn, Practice, Grow, Change…

By Angela Kafadar | January 18, 2021

I’m not sure why I have such a hard time keeping my thoughts flowing and sharing that with you in regards to my general theme “Life After Parenthood”. Maybe it’s because I thought what I have to say has no meaning in your day to day life. Maybe it’s because in between doing things that…

How a few dollars have helped, especially now!

By sysop | June 15, 2020

It’s been almost a year since my last update, but so much has happened, sooo sooo much. This year, I spent even more time in Roatan, but our trip was cut short by Covid-19 – and things just haven’t been the same since. We have all been through isolations/quarantines, now bubbling (whatever that is), and…

Feeling hopeful for Ranger, thanks to my community of friends who help me help Roatan Animals

By Angela Kafadar | March 27, 2019

Please know that I do not like to share terrible photos of dogs, and this is NOT that. Ranger HAS been rescued and is getting medical attention. Update on Ranger: The Dr. saw him and was confident that in about 1 month with the treatment and therapy he will be able to walk again. Olivia…

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.” The Dalai Lama

By Angela Kafadar | March 15, 2019

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”― The Dalai Lama I read this quote the other day and it gave me a bit of hope.  Because lately, I’ve been feeling quite down on all the things I haven’t done.  Let’s take Roatan for example.  My goal going…

My Current Projects

The Roatan Project

Our first project is helping Roatan Animal Shelter by donating what they need the most, cold hard cash.  Here is a post from Olivia from July 2018, just to give you some insight into her life...donations are being collected - just click on the "Donate" button!

A little bit of numbers today...
Rent shelter 450$
Dog food 500$
Cat food 300$
Christian 300$
Kevin vet school 500$
Total set expenses per month 2050$
not counting the vet/meds/trips to La ceiba

I am not the animal control population on Roatan, I am not the one who will make you feel good just because you call to say go pick an animal....
I am just one person who desperately tried to alleviate suffering because I just cannot numb myself and turn my head...

What I hate:
Lies, cruelty, indifference, cowards ...

So next time you see suffering I hope you will remember to be human and do something about it...
Because as you see those numbers ...my plate is full and my emotional capacity is overwhelmed.
